Van Wert County
Recorder's Office

Welcome to the Recorder's Office
The Recorder's Office is the most important library in the county.  It is the County Recorder who has the important and indispensable task of keeping the vital records pertaining to ownership of  Real Estate and to all encumbrances of liens upon it.  In Van Wert County, these records date back to 1835.

Without the work of the County Recorder in recording, safekeeping and organizing all documents in a competent and logical manner, it would be nearly impossible to purchase land and be assured of a clear title and to lend money with land as security.

Effective Jan. 1, 2013, the Van Wert County Recorder's Office will no longer be accepting deeds or any other form of real estate conveyance by mail.

The Recorder's Office belongs to the taxpayers of Van Wert County.  Pay us a visit - we look forward to serving you!

Attention Veterans!
Ohio Law empowers the County Recorder to record your discharge (DD 214) at no charge, but only if you request it.     Please stop by our office for more information.
