- What can I recycle?
- What are your business hours?
- Why didn't my recycling get picked up?
- Why didn’t you take this item?
In most cases, if an item is left in your curbside bin, it is because we do not accept that item on curbside. However, some of those items are still accepted at the Recycling Center. Be sure to check the recycling guide for your item(s) in question. Also, as everything else in the world, things can change. The recycling center can only accept items that we have found a market for. Markets tend to change year to year. Some items become less valuable or obsolete to the point that companies have lost interest in processing them.
- Where do I take my yard waste?
The Van Wert SWMD Composting Facility officially closed on April 20, 2018.
Yard waste (brush, tree limbs, grass clippings, leaves, etc) can now be taken to Go Green located at 7898 US Rte 127 N (where the old dump used to be). All county residents can drop off yard waste at no charge. Their business hours are Mon – Fri 7:30 am – 4:30 pm and phone # 1-888-453-3545.
- Do you recycle TVs?
Yes! We accept ALL electronics. There is a fee for CRT (tube) TVs, monitors, and projection TVs set at $0.37/per pound and flat screen TVs set at $0.20/per pound. All other electronics are free to recycle.
- Do you accept any hazardous household waste (HHW)?
Yes. We accept used motor oil, hydraulic oil, or fuel oil (free to drop off). This used oil actually heats our facility in the winter!

We do accept water based paints as well, but these are NOT considered hazardous. We accept latex/acrylic water based paints in liquid form. There is a fee for these set at $2.00/gallon.
