Meet the Treasurer
Nathan Vandenbroek is serving as treasurer of Van Wert County after his appointment in September of 2018 to fulfill the unexpired term of Treasurer Beverly Fuerst. Treasurer Vandenbroek is the 26th Treasurer for Van Wert County
Treasurer Vandenbroek is a graduate of the University of Toledo. He attends numerous continuing education classes with the State Treasurer and State Auditor offices.
The major responsibility of the County Treasurer is the collection of various taxes. The County Treasurer receives all the monies collected by other County departments and prepares a daily financial statement which needs to be balanced daily with the County Auditor. In addition the Treasurer manages the County’s investment portfolio.
By Law the Treasurer serves on numerous Boards including: Investment Advisory Board; Board of Revision; Data Processing Board; Micrographics Board; Investment Advisory Board; and the County Budget Commission. Treasurer Vandenbroek has been active in numerous service organizations: Member of Van Wert Farm Bureau, Treasurer of the Van Wert Peony Festival, Treasurer of the National Tunis Sheep Registry Inc., a member of the County Treasurers Association of Ohio and the National Association of County Treasurers & Finance Officers.
Treasurer Vandenbroek and his wife Jessica reside in Venedocia and have one son Henrik, three dogs, a dozen chickens & ducks, many sheep and one Donkey.
