REMINDER

VAN WERT COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT/RECYCLING SERVICES TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19

Van Wert County officials would like to remind residents that due to the threat of the spread of COVID-19, all recycling services at the Van Wert County Solid Waste Management District (SWMD) will be postponed until at least April 6, 2020.  This includes curbside, the Recycling Center drive-thru drop off, township drop off, Allen county drop off, and commercial services.  On April 6, 2020, there will be a reevaluation to determine further action.  Also, as reluctant as we all are to send recyclables to the landfill, it was determined to be the best course of action in preventing the spread of the virus at this time.  Per the New England Journal of Medicine, the virus can survive on surfaces such as plastic (72 hours) and cardboard (24 hours), which are just two of the main types of materials that are handled at the SWMD.  The SWMD apologizes for any inconvenience associated with this postponement and asks for your understanding and patience through this difficult time.  For more information, please contact (419) 238-7767.
